I'm a member of several other do-it-yourself discussion forums where if a member gives less-than-professional advice he or she is immediately criticized by the veteran members. Although most of you have forgotten more about computers than I've ever learned, never have my recommendations or observations been disparaged. There is a real spirit of civility and respect here on the PC Guide that I don't find everywhere. And you folks have gotten me out of a number of difficult, frustrating situations with PCs at home and work. Thanks for the help.

There is no reason for that. If someone gives poor advice they can be corrected without tearing them apart. The only exception to this is the time I lost my temper after a certain member against many warnings repeatedly gave strongly opinionated bad advice which he presented as fact. That was not a good day. :p
But I couldn't agree more that this is the most friendly forum I have been to. A bunch of great members that enjoy helping others. That's why I keep coming around for almost six years now. Even when I don't have time to get involved with a thread I still usually stop by and see what's going on. And with the wide variety of skills of the members there is always something to learn no matter how long you been at it. I have learned more over the years through this forum than any classroom or book has given me. ;)

i think the only place here on the forums that "newcomers" are "yelled at" is if they post onto the "malware removal" section. And that is only because the tools are very powerful and one wrong move might =no more computer
end even then, it is just a PM from one of the moderators... one that i got once....
