Hey guys,
My Inspirion 9400 laptop with Win XP Home Edition says that my USB drive and SDHD card in a card reader are full when they are not. If I try to copy a large file say 4GB's onto one of those drives I get the "disk full" message. Both drives have more than 7GB's of space. The drives themselves are fine because I can transfer large files unto them both fine on my Sony Vaio Desktop computer with Vista.
Early yesterday morning I was using those drives with my laptop just fine transferring large files. I shut down my comp and when I tried to transfer files again that "disk full" message started popping up. I don't know what happened. I did remove one of the drives without doing the safe eject thing but that's because when I tried the computer would not release it.
I've done this before with no problems at all.
I researched this problem and did the following with no luck:
System Restore
Reformat USB drives
Ran a virus/malware scan (which did turn up some malware, deleted it, but didn't fix problem)
Disk cleanup
Please if anybody can shed some light on this for me that would be great. I need to get some stuff off that computer ASAP! Thanks so much!
