Ram memory upgrade advice.

Hi there, sorry if this sounds a silly question but just thought i would check!

i currently have a toshiba sattelite a100-163. i am looking to upgrade the ram to 2GB but my question is since it already has 1GB ram do i just need to buy another 1GB ram to add to this or do i need to replace this completly with a 2gb ram chip?

any help is much appreciated!

It has two slots but both slots have 512MB in them.
You can put 2MB in the laptop by replacing both with 1GB modules.
Or add a 2GB chip to replace one of the 512MB which will make the total 2.5GB, whichever way you want to go.
