http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/eek.gif I have recently installed a 2nd hard drive (D http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif just to run games from. My original (C http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif drive is used for applications. I have been trying to insert some clipart which is on drive (C http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif but the computer is looking for it on (D http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif. How do I change the path so it finds it on the correct drive (C http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif not (D http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif?

Sometimes I hate smilies...try NOT putting your drive designations in parentheses, that will eliminate the smilie faces all over the place...lol

Some more info would be helpful, what OS you're using, and what program(s) this pertains to.

I think you have a registry issue related to default paths still being there from before the second drive was added. win98 has a utility called regserver that might do the trick, it reassigns applications. Need more info before I start taking guesses though.

Thanks for the reply. OS is Win95. I was attempting to insert clipart in MSPublisher, Publisher is on my C: drive as is MSOffice. However, when trying to insert the path the computer searches for is D:/WORD/clipart etc... I need to change the path to that of C:/WORD/clipart etc.. in order for it to work. How do I do it?

Not sure how to change the path, probably in the registry, and that I couldn't help you with, I avoid the registry if I can. I have a link on my site to a page with goo dregisrty info, but I doubt if it would have specific instructions, it mainly helps learn how to use the registry editor. You can take a look, it might help. I Just looked through my registry and couldn't find anything I thought might help. Made SURE I didn't change anything...

Publisher has the install option to copy the clipart files to the hard drive, if that optiion wasn't used it's trying to find them on the CD, assuming D is your CD ROM drive. Then you would need to have the CD in and it should find it. If the clipart files haven't been copied to the hard drive changing the path wouldn't help, it would point to a location where the file doesn't exist anyway.

You might try using the Browse option, if you know where the clip art files are stored, again assuming they are stored on the hard drive. Some are also shared with Word, so you could try pointing Browse to the Word folder. Just look for the Browse button and double click each folder until you get to the one that has the clipart files in it. It might be a good idea to find them in Windows Explorer first, so you'll know where to go instead of trial and error.

I found this by running a search on Google.com http://www.microsoft.com/office/publisher/using.htm
Most MS Office programs will allow you to choose the path when inserting anything - it's got to be the saem with this... though I'm not real familiar with Publisher. When you go to "insert" does a new window box open? There should be a browse button or a text line that you can type the correct path into.
