I am reading here (http://www.rojakpot.com/Speed_Demonz/BIOS_Guide/BIOS_Guide_Index.htm)
that shadowing the Bios is not an advantage anymore. Actually, in modern systems it seems to be a waste of memory and should be disabled. I would like to know your opinion and if anyone of you has this option disabled.

That's an interesting article. I have never heard any mention of not shadowing. It will be interesting to hear what everyone thinks.

I do NO shadowing ........as fast as the newer systems are nowdays (speaking of any system over 500 mhz)the only thing tweaking will do is screw a system up if you get carried away and the gains are soooooo minimal in "real" performance that it isnt worth it to me. I usually cache the video & bios and that's about it.
A 3-5% gain @ 166 mhz is meaningful......but certainly not @ 600+ mhz http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

So if i got this right, considering i am running a 700MHz Duron and 256Mb SDRAM at 133MHz, is not an advantage to disable the Bios shadowing? or better, I would never be able to see the difference.
thanks

I am sure you will NEVER notice the difference...probably even on a Benchmark + you will lessen the chance of other problems by disabling it http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

After listening to you Randy, I was going to disable my shadowing and test the difference. Only to find out that I did a couple months ago and forgot! I definately didn't notice any difference all this time. Maybe it's because I'm a novice user, but, I'm with you on this one.
