View Full Version : I want to upgrade to a dual processor?

Here is what I have running now....I really want to upgrade to a Multicore processor due to the fact that everytime I'm trying to download or upload a large file I basically lose all use of the pc.

Umm...file transfers, even of DVD size should not impact the actual performance of the computer to the degree you describe. In fact files of rather large size were being handled with minimal impact even back in the days of a 100 MHz PII.

What software are you running...and is your AV actively scanning the file being transferred?

well actually I lose performance when I'm downloading Large files of Dvd quality..lol. And also the wife is on myspace..facebook..etc..and I'm running a iso burning software + streaming media to my xbox360......so what do you think is a dual core sufficient for what I'm doing and if so which one would one recommend where I could just plug in play.

Thanks for replying I really want to start ordering what I need from newegg ,so I would appreciate anyone's opinion.

Correction: 100MHz Pentium. PII's came out around 266MHz.
