Hi, I accidentally opened a file that deleted some files on my IBM Thinkpad R50. When I boot the machine now I get this message:

Windows could not start because of an error in the software,
please report this problem as:
load needed DLL's for kernel.
Please contact your support personnel to report this problem.

I have tried to reboot this machine from a Windows XP disk but get this message again. I have set the Bios to boot first from the CD/DVD drive but it just comes up with this message again. I have also downloaded a bootable CD for the Thinkpad (not sure if it is the right one) and get the same results.
I have tried safe mode with no luck either.

Is there something unique about Thinkpads? I have owned many computers and have never had these problems. I would appreciate any help anyone could give me on this issue.
