View Full Version : Installing win 95 - won't read drive d:\
There is probably a really simple explanation why this isn't working. I have a partitioned and formatted HDD and want to install windows 95 on it. The problem is though when I want it to read from the CD-ROM it comes up with invalid drive specification. Now I know that when I partitioned it I only did a single partition. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/confused.gif
Can anybody help me as this is pretty desperate.

CD ROM drivers are probably not installed. You can install them, or use a win 98 start up disk, which will install temporary CD ROM drivers so you can install windows. You can make a win 98 Start Up disk on a friend's computer, by going to Control Panel\Add/Remove Programs\Start Up Disk tab. Bring your own floppy disk. I would go with a win98 Start Up disk, it's much easier.
Or you can download one from Boot Disk (http://www.bootdisk.com).
Software Procedures (http://www.pcguide.com/proc/sw/index.htm) might have some more useful info for you.
