Hi..
I have been using clonecd version 2.7.8.1 the odd time or so over the last year, somehow I was able to get the user name and serial from links from the pcmech.com forum and always stored this info on my second drive for same keeping, and a number of times I installed it with out clonecd without problems, normally I only installed clone if I had a cd that was being arkward, so this is the only time I really used it as its only really any good for direct copy as I have nero 4 that came with my writer and adaptec that came with my other writer so I do have an option to use either but the other day I decided to checkout clones website to see if there was upgrades I didn't download anything, I never thought anymore about it until I tried to use clonecd for an arkward backup and I got a message telling me to register but the old resistration name and number isn't accepted now whats going on ?. I uninstalled the software and checked in the registy and delete anything that mentioned clonecd but when I try and install clone again its still seems to think the name and serial numbers are wrong. I know I would Probably be able to get clone on if I wiped the drive but I don't really want to go there just yet. I would be very grateful for somebody's help on this one.

MARKBLACK,
Whether or not Randy knew the answer (and I'm sure he did) the point is we don't talk about illegal copies here at this forum. The unprovoked attack by you was unwarrented IMO. If it wasn't an illegal copy, you could just repost that it's not, and anyone who knows the answer will be happy to help.

mind at ease, don't worry your little head because I have the lience now to use the full version I already had the software. It was approx 2 years ago when I started with computers so I maybe then I was a bit behind but I love wally's like you because this helps me to overcome the so called business bully's like you.As you may know the laws on software cut a fine line I may have been stuck in the middle at time's because we all can't be right everytime, I try and keep all my software lienced and above board maybe you thought your bully boy tactics would bother me. I am a bit older now maybe I missed the computer era later on in life but mind your back I'm catching up. Just to finish I pay for all my software because the law says this to be, I do have software such as freeware share which cut the line between whether we have to pay for it or not. so I would be very grateful and have a good think about your reply because I beleive you may be thinking I was one of them young chaps who breaks the law where software is concerned. Thanks anyway for the reply as this has given me chance to reply to you in more detail.

No problem at all. I was just trying to explain where Randy was coming from, as far as I could tell by what he said. I didn't mean to speak up for him,as he can do that. I just didn't want you to think it was a personal vandetta against you. Randy, and many others, help many people out here and we all benefit from everyone's knowledge here. Glad you got your problem solved. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Whether you own a legal copy of the software or not, if you don't like someone's answer a comment of that sort is not appreciated in this forum at all, and is not necessary. THAT's the point. Randy answered as he did because he thought, as I did, from your original post that you were trying to bypass the legal registration requirements of the software. His reply was in line with the normal policy of this forum regarding copyright/licensing/registration issues of this type.
Any further abusive or insulting remarks toward any person participating in this forum will not be tolerated, no matter what the situation. If you don't like someone's answer, it can be handled more appropriately without the insults.

Hi Paleo Pete I would like to add there are plenty of forums across the globe and I learn a lot from them I just felt on this one, Randy_tx was trying to say I was using illegal copies of software without asking more questions he jumped the Gunn, I dont know the Law across where you are from but we have a system innocence before proven.anyway I don't have time for this have now the full version's on it way from clonecd themselves they agree with me I can use the trial until the full version on cd comes, as I like to have all my software on CDs not downloads.

You're still missing the point. Or not accepting it...This whole thing is not about whether you do or do not own a legal copy of the software. It's about a rude, abusive and insulting comment that was made. The laws here are basically the same, innocent until proven guilty. I think the proof's in black and white on this one...the comment is right there for all to read...
The original post did appear as though you were trying to bypass registration requirements, that's not a matter of whether or not you do own the software, it's a matter of how we routinely deal with questions of that nature. From what was posted in the original message, I think Randy's response was appropriate.
Now that we know that you do have a legal license for the program, nobody is making any such accusations. What I am trying to get across is that the type of comments made toward Randy in your second post are not acceptable.
Maybe you do already realize that, otherwise you probably would have been rude and insulting in your last post, as several people have in the past. I hope so anyway...forget about the license issue, you own it, fine. I'm trying to get a completely different point across. We would all appreciate it if we saw no more insulting remarks.
And by the way, thanks for not being rude and insulting in your last post. Plenty people would have...

Hi Paleo Pete thanks for your last comments I have taken onboard what you mentioned about me being insulting!!. I work hard I pay my way I ask for nothing free. I have never ever been insulting to anybody who wasn't firstly insulting to me. I have to take a step back when somebody is I can't afford to be insulting, I would up the road (lose my job) I tread very carefully I deal with people face to face every single day the odd time on the phone of which are very tightly recorded and checked by a third party every week, it takes a lot for me to lose it. thats all I really want to say on the matter as I do feel, at my age I have been used as a scape-goat.

Hi again Randx_tx with regards to your statement "a SIMPLE "It is not illegal software" would have done just fine as far as I'm concerned ....gad". I was unaware that this software in question could of been illegal so I was just trying to drive this home, I asked a simple question and got answers that Bill himself would of thought where odd anyway its finished with now. somebody, I am not naming names went down the warez route, not me. As you will understand I didn't want to go into the full story about the ifs and buts of this software but in the end I had no choice, I normally look through this forum if I see a long winded question unless in the first few lines I have idea's I would try and answer otherwise I leave them to people with more time on their hands.
