Was just playing a game and my CPU temp was 95C - im guessing this had something to do with the game getting a bit laggy all of a sudden. :mad:

Ouch... what processor and heatsink are you using? Is the case getting decent cooling

very lucky you never had a meltdown. Yes, heat will cause slowdowns big time if not just shut off your PC. You will have to check it out some more and post what cooler you have but it sounds like something else is wrong. Is your PC clean? Is your PC cpu fan working?
