I bought this system used (off brand) and did not get any disks I have been trying to do a full system back-up but I now have 12 floppys and only have about 30 of over 8,000 files how do I just back up what I need to restore my operating system (win 95) without buying a disk factory.
I'll worry about my personal files later. Thanks.

It will take half a lifetime to back the entire system up on floppy disks (even if it's a minimum install of win95- there is more than 75 mb of Windows ALONE - which is about 56 floppy disks)...If you want to back the entire hard drive up and it is less than 700 mb, you could do it on a cd burner; however, if it is greater than 700 mb (approx), you will need ANOTHER Hard Drive or a Tape Backup system to do it.

I'm probably missing something here.. but recently I did a clean install of win95(a) from 13 floppy disks, so maybe I don't understand the question.
cd-burner's.. well I use mine allot, and as randy says you can get up to 700Mb's of data onto one cd.

13 disks...win95 was originally available, and mighet still be, on floppies, for those who don't have a CD ROM available. The 13 disk setup used a very different format and high compression to fit the entire program on those disks. It later proved to be flaky, so they opted for a more normal format, and the number of disks went to around 25. That's how you managed to install win95 from 13 disks. You apparently managed to get your hands on one of the copies that didn't have problems.
I've never seen the 13 disk set, never even knew about it until a couple of days ago, but have used the larger set of floppies to install 95. It's either 23 or 25 floppies, and after you finish you'll be trying to change disks in your sleep...

Well I have know friends with win-95 disks(well I have no friends but thats another story) so back to my question what programs do I need to restore the original O.S. as a minimum. I can go 25 disks or so but I'm over 40 and would like to finish before I die.
