Something very stange is going on here. You may remember an earlier post about installing dos drivers for cd-rom. I thought I had it...but I don't apparently. In fact, now windows does not detect the cd-rom. The drive letter still shows up in my computer, but when you click on it, I either get an Mmtask error, (which if someone would explain what that is would be great because it is really annoying me), or that the deveice is not ready. No lights, doesn't open, zilch. It was listed in device manager and listed that it was working, I tried to reinstall drivers for it, but all that did was make it disappear out of device manager all together. There is no reference to it in the config. file either. Explorer now is also screwing up, thanks to my "tinkering", every time I click on something, an exporer error comes up, and I have to click it several times before it will go away. So any help would be great. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/rolleyes.gif

Look in Storage Troubleshooting, and post the exact error message(s) so we'll have better info to go on. Mmtask is usually related to multimedia drivers, sometimes MPEG or video drivers, but we need to know the exact error message to be able to look up any reliable info.
