Hello.

I am trying to setup a wireless network among three houses which are in a triangular fashion, approximately 40M apart from each other.

Initially i tried to use the DGN2000 NETGEAR wireless modem router but the signal degrades as we move further away from it. As such there is no reception to the other two houses.

I am willing to use and outdoor antennae for better signal recpetion.

Any idea how should i proceed and what is the chance that this will work?

Thanks

If it works a cantenna (http://www.google.ie/search?hl=en&source=hp&q=cantenna&btnG=Google+Search&meta=&aq=f&oq=) can be a cheap solution.

This one has some good disclaimers and warnings.

Most people don't know, but willfull violations of FCC rules can levy fines on the order of $10,000 per incidient per day

I don't know, literally, how one calculates the EIRP but using a normal router and unidirectional cantennas (or similar) would seem unlikely to exceed regulations. Omnidirectional boosting could be more problematic. The only DIY cantenna I have used increased the range from some 50 to about 100 metres through a glass window in a stone wall.

Thanks for replying.

So, the only way to know whether this will work is to test it with the antennae itself.

Hope it will be ok.

Thanks for the tip Paul.

But i don't think it would be worthwhile for me to look abroad.

I should be contacting the local distributors of netagear and dlink stuffs.

good day.
