Last summer I bought a new Dell computer. It was a nice computer--that is until it slid from my desk and hit the floor.:( The bottom line is that when it hit the floor it pulled the power cord from the power supply, ripped up the power supply and caused a short in the mother board. Any way it's completely gone. It was still under warranty but I didn't even try to get it replace since one look at it and any anyone could tell that it was dropped. Any way I salvaged whatever I could from it and bought a new Hp/Compaq. I put the hard drive from my damaged computer in my new one for an extra drive and everything is working fine. But I do have one question. When I right-click on Computer/Manage/Disk Management, it shows the drive from my old computer as Active. Should I set it as Inactive and if so how do I do that? Thanks, ~Frank~ P.S. I won't tell you what I said when it hit the floor. But I didn't call it a computer.

It really doesn't matter that it is marked as active. Since the current boot menu does not have a listing to boot to it there really is no chance of trying to boot to it.

OK--Thanks--I think I'm just going to delete everything on it that I don't need and use it as an extra backup.

I would probably format the drive and run some error checking...
