Working with my daughter's laptop because I can't just discard it. Had problems before and after the warranty ran out. It just didn't power up. The last time into warranty service, it came home without its original memory. (1G) I replaced the 64mb module with two 512's and thought the problem was fixed. It booted up right away. Problem fixed I thought. I now find it boots whenever it wants to and am wondering if the problem is actually in the power button. I also am questioning the AC adapter which also is not the one sent in with the laptop. Is there a way to check the adapter if I can borrow a volt meter? How would I go about checking it? If the adapter checks good, should I assume it is a problem with the adapter socket?
