Where (other than the startup folder) do the programs get their startup orders from. I have a shortcut to my startup folder & created a stop folder so that I can quickly move or remove them. But I have Adaptec create CD & Direct Cd installed & I can't find the startup commands.
I want them in my own folders so that I can quickly move them as I do the others.
If the commands are in the registry. I have a copy of the registry before they were installed. so can I remove the current reg & replace it with the old ?

Well......I know how to prevent them from starting at bootup - just go to Start/Run and type msconfig..........then tab over to "Start Up" and uncheck the box that relates to them. I start ea of them with shortcuts on the desktop when I need them; however, I dont know of a way to shut off Direct CD Wizard once it has started.....maybe someone can tell both of us http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Run sysedit and see if regedit is set in autoexec.bat to modify the Registry. This is just a guess, but after installing a boot menu to select Nero or Adaptec, it put in a batch to change which drivers load.

If you are running win98se go to start/accessories/systemtool/system info, click tools then system configuration utility. Select startup then take out the check for the Direct CD. I have done this and it does work..
Hook in and hang loose

Am running W95 at the moment but am going on to W98se shortly, I wondered if there was anything I should do before or during install, to get it into the startup folder instead of ??? where ever it is !
If not I will do as you suggest after installing.

Start regedit and go to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Run
You will find DirectCD there. You can copy the commandline for it to a desktop shortcut, then delete the registry value. Put the shortcut in the startup group if you wish.
