View Full Version : Network Neighboorhood is gone from desktop

K, I am about to isntall a ethernat card to this computer and i noticed that network neightboorhood is gone from the dekstop. I remember deleting it from regedit somehow.

Is there a way to bring it back? so i can share files

When you install the card and windows network client it will come back.
Or at least it should.

if you have tweak installed.
Check it . It may set to disable the desktop icon for it also.

I had the same problem, and never discovered what made it disappear.

I installed Tweakui from the Windows 98 CD, and was able to restore it. Tweakuilooks handy for other purposes.

It was in X:\Tools\Reskit\Powertoy, where X is CD Drive letter. The following install instructions were in a .txt File. TweakUI uses an .inf file for installing.

1) Find the TweakUI.inf file in the TweakUI folder on the Windows 98 CD.
2) Right click on TweakUI.inf and choose Install
3) Follow the directions on the screen.Note that there was no Tweakui Folder on my CD.

MS is apparently trying to phase out this utility. It was on my Windows 98 CD, but not on my Windows 98 Second Edition CD. It installed from the regular CD even though I have Second Edition on my system.
