My friend has just bought a new desktop PC Compaq Presario CQ5226. After it was set up and each time it is turned on it starts to play the same song on a loop - Mambo Italiano - and it is driving us mad!! He has Windows 7 which I have not used before but I have looked everywhere to see where it is stored and how to remove it but no luck. It is not any of the 3 sample songs that come with Windows media Player and there is nothing else in the music files. This is a brand new PC and nothing has been downloaded by way of music or video that may account for this. Has anyone any ideas please??

Firstly, you might try contacting HP chat page, since they own
Compaq, and ask them how is this music file being loaded. I have found they
are pretty helpful. I went out to HP's website and they dont have a Compaq
Presario CQ5226, so I tried CP5226, and I found the following:

For a chat, try the following, but you will need your Product model and
probably the serial number, which is usually on the back or bottom of the
computer.

SECONDLY, you might try doing a search for this song as a file
Mambo Italiano or some type of variation of it.
THIRDLY, you might try looking in MSCONFIG for this song being loaded or
some program that plays this song. You can always uncheck items, then
reboot, then go back into MSCONFIG and uncheck other items.
I am not sure what program you are talking about that is running that plays
this song. You mentioned Windows Media Player... hmmm
It is always possible that HP is running one of their programs initially, that is
playing this music. I think your best bet is to chat with them. If this is a new
computer, then you should be able to contact them without being charged.
Here is a link to their phone numbers page:

Generally, I have found that if you can't get a satisfactory answer from
LEVEL 1 tech support, that you can ask to talk with a supervisor to get
transfered to Level 2 tech support. You have to be insistant with these
foreign tech people  . They just generally stick to a script. Once they
get off the script, they are lost, GENERALLY... Be insistant. This always
works for me.
Good luck
