Greetings and salutations. I recently experienced a total system crash while trying to install a new modem. I believe that the install software was to blame but i am of course human and am probably wrong. I had to reinstall windows 98, (twice) as all my autoexec.bat and msconfig files were gone. now, word perfect says it has not been properly installed. how can i reinstall it? I have no disk, it was preinstalled on my sys, and I am afraid if it is partly installed and I redo it I will have problems. I am not totally computer stupid, but am self taught, (by wonderful sites like this) and this experience has me rattled. I tried to pick the right board, my problem seemed to apply to all. Thanx for help. emsienoon
I don't have experience with it, but maybe COA32 (http://www.zdnet.com/pcmag/pctech/content/16/01/ut1601.001.html) could restore the Windows settings and Registry if the WordPerfect files are otherwise intact. Anybody else have ideas?
Upgrade and full version word processors are very expensive, but I got WordPerfect 8 and Corel Draw from Lexmark for a small handling fee after buying a Z12 printer (which was only $49). They are not the full retail version, but are fine for my use. I don't know if the offer is still in effect.

Surprised that you did not at least get a recovery disc from whomever sold you the system. They usually put all of your installed software on that disc. Are you still under at least a limited warranty where they might re-install it for you. If you have the receipt they may do it for you anyway...give 'em a try.
