Hye guys, i spilled soda, (sprit/sevenup) on my laptop's keyboard and the power button. After i spilled it, i try to clean the soda with tissues but i didnt turn the laptop off. It is working perfectly for a half year, and then when i was trying to turn it on 1 month ago, it doesnt want to be turned on, i thought the baterry might be empty, i i plug the charger adapter in, but it still doesnt want to be turned on, when i sent to to the shop i bought to repair it, they says i dont have warranty anymore and the cause of the laptop being broken is that i spilled water in it. but it worked for half year after i spilled it, so i dont understand why it doesnt break after i spilled it and its after half a year, so i am wondering if the cause might be something else. The shop sent a letter to me and told me that i have to replace the keyboard and the motherboard and the total cost 720 euros and i bought the laptop for 600 euros lol, so does anyone know a way that i can still fix it ?

my laptop's brand is Sony Vaio VGN-NR21S/S

thanks in advance

Most places will not honer a warranty on any kind of electronics if they find liquid inside it. Regardless of if it caused the issues or not. I really can't fault them for it.

You can try to find your model at ebay and replace the motherboard and KB yourself. But that is hit and miss. When the cost to repair something exceeds the initial cost it is definitely time for a new one. With laptops the cost to repair them can get very high very quick. This is why I usually recommend getting the expensive warranty that covers accidental damage.

If you have data you need to recover you can buy a USB external enclosure to put the hard drive in. Simply plug it into another system to retrieve your data.

well, did anything strange happen before you turned it off? You might get away with out most problems if you clean it a bit. Rubbing Alcohol can help remove most of it under the keyboard and such (just some sort of cotton pad, I use cotton pads already soaked in alcohol when I clean my stuff, which may do just the trick) and Radio Shack has some connection cleaning stuff that may take care of the motherboard if it got to the motherboard.

sorry,I dont know about it, but i take one infomation on this, which is can help you.:)
1. Step 1

Turn off laptop and detach all power sources from machine. Take out battery and unplug the AC adapter.

2. Step 2

Open the laptop screen as much as it will go; remaining screen plane on work surface.

3. Step 3

Find small indentation on the right side of PC. Softly put in slotted screwdriver to slot and pry the hinge cover up. Pry the hinge cover up from right to left until it comes movable then delete it from laptop.

4. Step 4

Remove three screws beside the top edge of the laptop with screwdriver.

5. Step 5

Pick up the keyboard by top edge, revealing the internals of laptop. Find bright blue pull tab at the end of ribbon cable that attaches keyboard to laptop and softly pull the tab to detach the keyboard from laptop.
