I posted on 4/11/01 about a problem reinstalling wp2000 after a sys crash. I got a disc and it wont completely install, it states it cant make pathways for 12 or 13 files. arrrrrggggghhh. I also had to reinstall a new cd burner program, my old one would not work, and my stinking printer wont pruint despite updating drivers and reinstalling. I had my registry backed up and scans say its ok. What the ? I have spent the last 2 weeks updating all kinds of apps I used and finding more problems as I go, mainly missing files. How can I make the file pathways or get the files accepted from the disc? or should I just blow the thing up and start over?

Unfortunately, sometimes you can get in a loop of uninstalling, updating, deleting and re-installing things that's so covoluted it would take a computer to keep track of it. (Sorry http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif couldn't help myself) Anyway, to try to reclaim your sanity, it sounds like starting all over with a clean, freshly formatted drive and an install from scratch is the way to go. Remember, you're not the first, and certainly won't be the last.

If you are upgrading to WP 2000 build 9.0.0.883

You should completely uninstall all previous versions of wp.
Then do a complete reinstall.

Corel has this information on their web site and it should be on the new disk as well
The latest build uses a new directory structure .

Let's hope reinstalling windows turns out not to be the only way out, although with all the installations and related file changes it might work out that way.

Try uninstalling WP first, then boot to Command Prompt Only from the boot menu, (Use [F8] or hold [Ctrl] to get there during boot) and use scanreg to repair the registry. scanreg_/fix using a space in place of the underscore used here will repair the registry. Maybe that will get some of the registry entries sorted out before trying to install the program again.

Reinstall Windows as a last resort only, but in this case keep in mind that it might be the only sure fire solution.
