While researching a print problem, I was checking the IRQ (7) for the LPT-1
port. All was correct in regular mode.
When I restarted in safe mode, and went through the check process again, it
now shows the IRQ to be 5 for the LPT-1 port. Any one have an explanation??
Windows has the ability to dynamically assign IRQs so when a device gets assigned an IRQ it may not keep that one from boot to boot (usually though it does), so if a certain device is not loaded (like during safe mode) the IRQs may be shifted. Also when in safe mode you'll notice many devices do not have info available and that you could assign a configuration to them, don't though because more often then not the non-configured devices will be reassigned on booting into normal mode and the configuration assigned in safe mode could then cause a device conflict.
