I have a Dell Dimension 2400 with XP SP3 with all of Windows Updates, except KB979306 (daylight saving time update)--- which I have been unable to install. However, after some searching I see that my machine does have KB976098-v2 (older d/s time update) in Add/Remove so I'm wondering what trouble I am likely to run into if I just go with what is installed.
Does anyone know?
Thanks.

There must be a bug with this update (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/979306) and I ran into it last week following a clean install of Vista. Found lots of people had the same issue with WinXP and Win7. I don't think the security aspects are significant on the whole or even apply across the globe. Seeing it is so problematic I suspect MS will release a corrective update at some stage soon but I certainly can live without it worrying me.

Thanks Paul:
I am communicating with a Microsoft Support Tech via email on the problem. But, so far his instructions haven't resolved the problem.
Presently, I've decided to live with it.
