Hi
I'd be grateful if someone could advise on the following information that was presented when performing a full "from boot-up" virus scan With Avast Antivirus :-
"File C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ClickFree Tformer\SACUPDATER-Temp\-SWFile-V3.9.78|>Cable_3_9_78_0.iso Error 42125 (Zip archive is corrupted)
I have very little computer knowledge and. being of advanced age, will probably not improve! In laymans terms, will this corruption(?) be of any consequence?
I recently recovered from a Trojan attack that gave rise to the dreaded blue screen depicting "Fatal Error" However, by restoring back and running a new antivirus program (Avast) plus two different anti-malware programs several problems were found and eliminated. Computer now seems to function well.
Any advice as to (a) is it necessary to do anything (b) If action is necessary how would I proceed with my lack of knowledge? ( I note Clickfree transformer is mentioned and I do indeed have this device that I use to back-up files to an external hard-drive.

Hi Dave,
Welcome to PCG!
From what I can find about Click Free seems legit but the issue you mentioned with the trojan may have damaged some of the files in that program and also could be lurking around still. You should post a log in a reply from a scan with Hijack This (http://free.antivirus.com/hijackthis/) and then wait for one of our malware experts to assist you further.
Please do not make any changes unless instructed to do so. HJT is a powerful tool and can botch an install (Windows) if played around with in inexperienced hands. Download the this one (http://go.trendmicro.com/free-tools/hijackthis/HijackThis.exe) to desktop, run it, then copy paste the log file in your reply. If needed use 2 or more posts if size of post is exceeded.
It is possible that the eventual path will be to just uninstall Click Free and reinstall it but it would be good to know if you don't have any lingering malware hidden somewhere in your system.

Thank you so much for your info.
I've run a scan in Hijak This and nothing was ticked in the check boxes. Indeed I could find no mention of the file in question.
I also ran a 'search' in Windows of 'all files and folders for "ClickFree" which produced no result.
There is, as far as I'm aware, no installation program for the "ClickFree Transformer", one just connects one end to the external hard-drive and the other to the computer usb port. Presumably the small 'gadget' between the connections contains the necessary software that allows one to back-up and retrieve the files and folders. The operating system is not backed up with this device. ('Twas designed for idiots like me I guess!)
In retrospect, I now think I must have reformatted the computer after the incident - I remember the state of confusion trying to recover from the crash, having little (zilch!) knowledge of how to proceed! My memory is pretty deficient now unfortunately!!!!!!!
I have now thought of actually contacting ClickFree and putting the question to them. I'll post back if any advice is given.
Any further thoughts?
Regards fom an old duffer! Dave;)

When was the warning from Avast? Before or after the reformat?
Hijack This does not automatically find and fix anything. It reports what processes are running in the background and only the most experienced users may choose to tick any of the boxes and then choose a command from there.
If you received that warning after reformatting, find the logfile or run HJT again and this time post the file for our malware team. It may be fine but you don't know for sure if you don't check. Just like a doctor's appointment. A little rubber glove and a simple cough. The only thing hurt will be your pride... :D

Hello again
In view of my limited computer knowledge I decided to again reformat my hard-drive. There was little additional information that had been added since my previous reformat so this seemed the safest way to proceed.
Everything now seems to be in order and various scans indicate there are no problems.
Thank you for your help - Dave
