I've triple checked all my settings for comcast e-mail, even verified they were exactly the same on my other computer. I can't get any e-mails to show up in the in box. I know they're there, because they show up at comcast.net, but they won't show up in outlook. And even after saving the password in the account settings, it still asks me for the password for mail and smtp when I send a test message. Running windows 7 64-bit, office enterprise 2007 edition. I uninstalled office 2007 and reinstalled it, but still have the same problem. Anyone have any idea why I can't get my messages in outlook?

Thanks.

I just thought of something else to try. I used Microsoft's easy migration(?) to back up the user profile/folders/files and then loaded them back up again after I installed the OS. What I'm going to try next is to save just the user data files and not any settings, delete the user profile and all associated files, then create a new user profile and copy over the data files. If this doesn't work, I don't know what else to try.

I would suggest trying another email client (OE or Thunderbird (http://www.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/thunderbird/) or Popcorn (http://www.ultrafunk.com/popcorn/)) simply as a troubleshooing tool. It they can read/retrieve mails OK then something must be wrong with the Outlook settings. It they too fail then there is something wrong with the mail account access settings.

Deleting the profile and files and then recreating the profile fixed the problem. Must have been something corrupted in the original profile. This one was a real head-scratcher!

Do you have a view set that could be causing this problem? (e.g. start
Outlook with /cleanviews to delete all custom views and reset the built-in
ones back to their defaults.)

Do you have a filter set to not sync items that meet a given criteria? (e.g.
Right click on "Inbox" folder and select properties. Go to the
synchronization tab to review.)

If all else fails, you can delete the .OST file while Outlook is closed.
Next time you start Outlook, a new .OST file will be created and sync'd
against the server.
