Hi
I have a DSL connection to the net and I was checking my
settings. I looked in the Properties box for my network card
which connects me to the net(which is a SMC EZ Card PCI 10 Adapter).
Under the advanced tab, I came across duplex mode under the Property
Box. It is set to Half Duplex.
Now for my question: Should it be set to Full Duplex or should I leave it alone?
Thanks for any help you may be able to give me.

If it works, don't fix it.

Maybe the best thing to do would be call your ISP, they should know what settings work best with their service.

You should always include the OS and version.

Assuming Win98:

Try a right-click close to that area of the Properties box.
You'll get a 'What's This?' pop-up that may give a clue.

Of course, the user's manual might not be a bad thing to read. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/wink.gif
Install CD help file? FAQ at SMC web site?
'From the horse's mouth' stuff there, I'm sure. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

If no help from those sources, 'If it works,...'. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

EDIT -- Sorry if I seemed flip about the manual. If the install was done by your DSL provider,
you may not even have one, I realize. For a good explanation of full & half duplex,
click here (http://www.webopedia.com/Communications/), and scroll down in the 'Terms' section. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

Hello Hockeye! http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

Quoted directly from the SMC User Guide

"Full-Duplex Mode
Enable full-duplex mode only if the card is connected directly to
a switch that also supports this mode. Do not enable this mode
if the card is connected to a hub."

The User Guide for your SMC EZ 10 card can be found here http://www.smc.com/smc/drivers/Drivers/1208/1208-UGD.pdf

Please take the time to verify this is in fact the "exact" manual for your hardware.............

Hope this helped!
Good Luck!
