Today I replaced my VGA monitor cable with a DVI-D cable - when I turned on
my equipment I get a response of "Check Cable Connection" or something
to that effect - I got the cable at Best Buy and on the advise of a cable
company repair man I purchesd the cable today. At any rate, I replaced
my VGA cable and now looking for some advise. Thanks for any help
you could provide.

What size monitor? What model? You probably need a dual link DVI-D or DVI-I and got a single link cable. Or the cable is just bad.

Have a look here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Visual_Interface). Scroll down a bit and on the left side you will see a graphic of the different versions. Compare it to the what the connector looks like on your monitor.

I have a 19" and a 22" LCD sitting here and they both use a single link DVI-D cable. But most larger monitors use a dual link cable.

you have to make sure that BOTH sets of Monitor drivers are installed as vga is anolog drivers and dvi is digital drivers.....not the same
