I don't have a problem with my desktop PC, yet; but I'm wondering if I should change the Boot Sequence in the BIOS in the event that I happen to need to Reformat and Reinstall Windows.

I have a Dell Dimension 2400 with XP Home SP3.

On accessing the BIOS I see that current Boot Sequence is set at:

1. Diskette Drive
2. Hard-Disk Drive C:
3. IDE-CD-Rom Device

Your comments please.

Thanks.

Not an issue. When you see the Dell splash screen tap the F12 key and it will bring up a one time boot menu and you can use the arrow keys to choose whatever device you want to boot from. Most other systems have a one time boot menu like this but the hot-key to bring it up differs from manufacturer to manufacturer.

Or when the time comes to reinstall you can simply go into the BIOS and change the boot order at that time.

other than that from jlreich, your "PC" will search in the order that you have set up......Hard-Disk Drive C....will save you time........maybe even nanoseconds.....as it won't waste any time looking farther than the OS
