I want to install a different CD-Rom drive in my laptop, but I am not sure, how to open it up to install a new one.

Welcome, michael! http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

A few things to consider first:

Is the laptop still under warranty? If yes, you
will probably void it by doing this yourself.

Most CD drives used in laptops are 1/3 height,
not the standard 1/2 height used in desktops,
so they are usually quite a bit more expensive.
You may only be able to get the drive from the mfr.

There are a lot of sensitive and/or 'delicate' parts
inside laptops, like foil ribbon connectors, and if
you damage one, you may be in for a more expensive repair.

I'm not advising you not to try it,
just pointing out a few pitfalls you may run into.

Good luck, whatever you decide to do. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif
