Forum logs me out while typing reply or new topic.

The forum regularly logs me out while writing a post or reply - in 5 min or less. I'm actively typing, so shouldn't ? think there is no activity.

Searched forum & found others w/ same issue. I checked all mentioned settings - were OK (clock, etc). Is there some exception that needs setting in FX for the site?

Using latest Firefox. Session cookies are enabled for PC Guide (as for ALL sites), but not 3rd party cookies. I use Cookie Safe extension to handle cookies.

I'm not switching to other sites / tabs when log outs happen.

Have NO problems navigating / posting, except mentioned prob.

Rarely have this prob on other sites - forums or not. Any suggestions?

Typing a response is a local activity, it doesn't register on the site until you hit the Post button.

But, the fact that you have session cookies only, not a 'permanent' one may be a contributing factor. All the login information is stored as a cookie (permanent, not session). If you have an old cookie stored, since you are only allowing session cookies, you may be ending up with a mismatch. Try removing ALL the cookies for here and logging in again (you may need to remove the site from the cookie permissions list and redo the permissions, too).

The simple fact is, that some versions of vBulletin and FireFox don't play well together, for some folks (depends a lot on which extensions are running...and it is often the combination of them that does it).

Thanks - I think. Not keeping any session cookies after shutdown. Will try del exceptions & starting over.

It must be something specific to PC Guide - my exception, your ver of vBulletin?, timeout setting (guess you indicated was none), other. If it's an extension, doesn't bother other sites.

Lots of forums use vBulletin & don't have this prob. But a tiny % of non secure sites (banks) DO log me out after a few min. Don't know which forum software. Few yrs ago, was common prob for me using FX. Now, very rare.

It's more a version of vBulletin/FF/extension mix than any one of them by itself. I had the problem here for a long time until one day, after a FireFox update, I noticed that I wasn't getting logged out any longer.

The other thing, I couldn't pin it down to any single extension, either...if I disabled all of them, it would work. Even each one, individually or in some combinations, would work...but all of them turned 'on' was a definite 'The software, it no worky.'
