Which Antivirus to buy?

hello every1

i am based in India(Hyderabad)

i have Dell Inspiron 1545.
had got 15months of free McAfee with my Dell Laptop. it is expiring dis weekend.

wanted to know which is the best antivirus??

i use internet most of the time n even have to use many pen drives/CDs.
many times i connect my McAfee -scanned pendrive on my colleagues PC's. their antivirus software can detect many trojans etc (which my McAfee fails to detect)


i do lot of downloading (with Torrent n without also)

is it advisable to buy antivirus for 3yrs duration??

No matter what you buy you will be infected...so, why 'buy' anything?

Go with one of the free AVs...AVG (http://free.avg.com/us-en/226284?cmpid=fs_hp_testa_226284) or Avira (http://www.free-av.de/en/trialpay_download/1/avira_antivir_personal__free_antivirus.html). Both are decent AV products and will catch most of what you will get (same as a pay for solution), but without the cost associated with a pay for AV.

You really should rethink your download habits, if you really want to remain uninfected...

McAfee and Norton really stink. I also recommend looking at Microsoft Security Essentials: http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/

I'd also suggest taking a look at Avira, its free for personal use and besides the annoying splash screen not bad at all!
