I don't think that you can use DCC to share an internet connection...

So you would need some sort of basic network setup, the equipment needed would depend on what you already have (what kind of DSL modem etc), what and how many computers you are trying to connect.

Some more system specs would be very helpful in trying to help set you up.

As to the AOL question yes you should be able to use any other browser once you are connected, I'm not sure if you can close the AOL browser without disconnecting, but you definately can minimize it, then just open your desired browser...

I dont know much about DCC, but to share the internet you "Need" TCP/IP, some way to cfg your TCP/IP protocol to make comp 1 as a gateway to comp 2, some type of port routing software, and thats about it...........

If someone can answer for sure if DCC can do that or not, the answer is at hand hehe............

.........and maybe I can learn something about DCC after this post http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

After a little more searching, I discoverd that it may be possible to share an internet connection over DCC, but I haven't found anything that tells you how, just some vague references that may be possible. The one thing is DCC is a fairly slow and basic network, so if possible to do, speed would not be that great, and security would probably be nonexistant. DCC is primarily for occasionally sharing files between two computers (laptop-desktop) without needing to go through setting up an entire network. I also saw some references to doing it through USB, but I think that may be a feature of ME, again kind of vague. Also ME is supposed to be easier to setup "home networks" with than 98...

I saw your other post, but here's trying to keep things in one spot...I found this http://www.practicallynetworked.com/sharing/dsl.htm and it seems to address your situation. Read the other pages as well for some additional info.

If you are running Win98SE or WinME, you can use Internet Connection
Sharing (ICS), which is included, but you may need to install it in
Contol Panel > Add/Remove Programs > Windows Setup > Internet Tools.
