View Full Version : Which Motherboard for Duron 900
I am building a new computer based on a Duron 900. I am
going with on-board sound and video to reduce costs (less
than $100 for the motherboard). One of the few mother-
boards that I was able to find is the ECS K7VMA ($77)
from cpusolutions.com
I will be using thi system for internet, e-mail and
moderate graphics (Photoshop).
Any comments appreciated

Hi Bill,
I just bought and configured a K7VMA and even purchased it from CPU Solutions up in Wisconsin. No problems to report. I went ahead and ordered their case and 300 watt power supply too. It was about as good a deal as I could find, also. Delivery was on time and all parts were, as ordered. They are part of the BBB up there. I've got mine running a 750 AMD cpu. If you do a web search with Google and type in K7VMA one of the sites that I read said that this motherboard accepts up to an 850. I think that is just old news though, because Duron didn't have a 900 until only recently. Call ECS and ask.
More info. than you wanted? Sorry!
Less words....Yeah great motherboard, my opinion.
Peace and good luck.
Thanks Nimnorf,
I keep hearing good things about the ECS K7VMA mobo.
I also contacted CPU Solutions and found they were very
helpful in giving advice. The guy even told me to stay
away from the lower cost Asus mobo which they are selling
because of a problem with the BIOS (incorrectly reporting
low battery voltage).
No problem with giving too much info. Some people don't
tell you enough. The ECS board is good for up to 1.5GHz.
266MHz FSB, UDMA 100 - can't complain about the spec's.
One of the guys on these forums said that he installed
30 K7VMA's and no problems were reported. Thanks again.
