Unless you upgraded directly from Win3.1 to 95 to 98 it is gone...the recycle bin is now the "undelete". But there are a few third party options out ther, if you doon't install, defrag you may be able to fo it with one of them...search for them on Google (http://www.google.com/).

Hmmm...looks like mjc has his "helper" in his lap... http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

I don't think files deleted from Outlook go to the recycle bin, they go to the deleted files folder in Otlook. Check there, they may be still lurking about...

No Pete, deleted files folder is empty. I think what happened was that when I organised the files into new folders, the new folders were made as subfolders of the deleted items folder, so that once I had organised the files that I wanted to keep, I emptied the deleted items folder, and everything went http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/frown.gif

Maybe I can try this again, the recycle bin is the successor to the undelete program from older versions of DOS/Windows....hopefully a little clearer.

Yes the deleted Outlook files are in their own "recycle bin" within the Outlook folders....you can try look in the Windows folder for "application data" folder and look through it...OE stores all its data there, imagine Outlook would, too, and look for a deleted file...open it in a text editor (wordpad)...they may be there but probably not all nice and organized.

No they're gone forever I think, but I have managed to retrieve some addresses from archived replies, so it's not too bad.

Found a couple of undelete progs though which members might be interested in i.e. File Fast Undelete: for file recovery & File Fast Recovery: for folder recovery. (both demo versions) File fast undelete works well (providing the file hasn't been overwritten) & is easy to use. Both of this progs can & should be used from a floppy disc.

also,

I am using wipe, which is a prog for over writing deleted files & once used the files cannot be recovered by the proceeding undelete progs. (I used it several times on my old pc before I sold it. Not that there's any gov secrets on it, but I still don't want anyone knowing what I've been writing for the last couple of years.)

I am also using Historykill which deletes internet files, recycle bin, recent docs files etc. it is quite good but needs to be used manually (& is easily configured to do so) I find its a pain used in auto.
