Problem with my notebook

i have a Dell inspiron 8000 the led light go on went the computer is turn on 5 secons them goes off can some budy help me with this.:confused:

Remove battery, unplug, hold power button for 10 seconds, plug in (don't install battery), try to turn on. If it works - the battery is VERY dead and won't allow boot.
