Mine is Debian with GNOME... what are yours? I know a certain Sylvander prefers Puppy... :P

I prefer GNOME to KDE and Debian is what Ubuntu and its variants are based on without the bloat. It's very customizable and user-friendly, offers the largest repository of any distro, very stable. Also, it's pretty fast too, I think, compared to Fedora.

My favorite is Monomaxos(Ubuntu Derivative). It has Flash, Java, and DVD Playback out of the box. http://monomaxos.com/images/monomaxos5.jpg This is from the official site

Really, those things aren't hard to install at all. It's just a matter of running a few simple commands in terminal.

No doubt that the best distribution is ubuntu linux. Specially for new linux users.

I think ubuntu's switch to unity is stiring up a lot of controversy. In my opinion switiching to xubuntu, lubuntu, kubuntu, or debian is a wise idea
