Hello I am very interested in learning different programming languages except so far it's been very difficult most books just seem like jibberish, assume you already know the language, or they read like a vcr manual.
I have checked Community Colleges around me but they only had really beginner computer classes, no programming. I know a little bit about html but thats about it. Could anyone recomend a good way to begin learning about programming and what the easiest language is.
Please Help

I found visual basic to be pretty easy to pick up...easier than C++ or Java, you can get those "teach yourself (computer language) in 24 days" books made by Sam's (I think) or try to find classes at another school...

I have to agree, visual basic is definately the easiest (besides HTML). Once you know VB most concepts carry over to other languages. Plus you don't have to compile it like C & JAVA. You can do more powerful things with C & JAVA, but be prepared to feel like throwing the F-in' computer out the window.
Javascript is just a scratch on the surface of JAVA but, most of the context is the same.
VB first!!!
------------------
MS-DOS, the only Microsoft OS that doesn't crash, or have bugs. Maybe they should have someone else write Operating Systems for them again.
Java shouldn't be knocked too quickly the syntax may be difficult at first but after the first few programs it becomes much easier to use. It is more powerful than most languages and you don't have to mess around with clearing varibles etc.. unless you want to. The applets are very good and easy to use, also it gives good introductions to classes and methods that you may want to find out about. Try getting some good programming books and example programs to start with and lessons if you can. If not find a friend who know a language and run any problems by them. Don't bother with javascript or any simular lanages go and get your hands dirty with the likes of C++ VBasic or Java then the rest should be easy to learn.

I would start with Visual Basic. It's not the best programming language out there (nor is it the most in demand skill) but it is very easy to understand. Which means that you can spend your time on learning how to build ,control, and debug your programs. Learn how to program first, then worry about which language to master.

"Our users will know fear and cower before our software! Ship it! Ship it and let them flee like the dogs they are!"
