Could any one tell me how I can edit my system try in Windows 98 operating system? I have over 17 icons here. I remember doing it once before but I can't recall it now.

Some of the applications in your system Tray can be stopped by using their Options or Properties menus. Right click on the icon or open the application and see what is available in the settings.

Some can be removed from the Start Up folder, at Start\Settings\Taskbar and Start Menu click Programs then the Advanced button, click the + beside Programs, and see what's in the Start Up folder. You can delete the shortcuts, but I create a temporary folder somewhere and drag them to it, so they can be replaced later if needed for some reason.

Some can also be removed by running msconfig. Go to Start\Run and type msconfig, click the Startup tab, and uncheck whatever you don't need running. Make sure you don't uncheck
Task Monitor,
System Tray
Scan Registry
Load Power Profile
your antivirus program.

Those should be left running.
