A G-Mail Google Voice plugin allows users to now make free USA VOIP phone calls in with just a headset or earphones and a microphone.
It also allows international VOIP calls for cheap, depending on the country called.

It's also free for Canadians.

Thought they'd charge a flat fee or something for unlimited calls when they grabbed G5. Nice to see they didn't.

tested on my laptop a few times last night. Very clear; I'm impressed but the volume options leave something to be desired

I have seen this pop up on my Gmail and never really investigated it. If it is truly free, I may have to take a closer look.

it's a pretty cool feature. You can also link the number that you pick/is generated for you to your phone, or phones, so that if the Google number is called, your phone(s) all ring at once. Also, if the phone(s) have caller ID, it will (by default) display the Google number, but you can change it so it forwards whatever the caller ID would have said had the person called directly.
