What is the extension. You will prob. have to go into Device Managler and find your hardware in the box, go to properties, then Update Driver. Then just find the file you downloaded.

What is the file extension? That's the three letters that com after the period in the file name, if you can't see a period followed by 3 letters, you need to uncheck the box that says "Hide file extensions for known file types" Which is in Folder Options, under View when you have a folder open...

If it's a driver, you may not need to open it at all, you can go into Device Manager, select properties for your device, click on update driver, and then browse to the file...

Maybe you are referring to the software bundle from Creative that you can download called "Live!Ware"? Firstly, you would have to have the a Creative sound card that is compatible with the download, download the appropriate version.

OK...I see folks already posting on this one while I'm fiddling away here myself...so to re-iterate, re-state and add...if it is an ".exe" file just double-click on it...seems nowadays driver updates are capable of removing the old ones for you while installing the new ones.

Let us know...Live!Wire is just a fancy name for the driver package since they add all the goodies in it...here's the link for those interested Live!Wire (http://www.soundblaster.com/liveware/info_win9x.asp)

How many of us at once will fit in a post...and how many will it take for us to fry the server (Just Kidding) by doing that all at once... http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Edit: The link should have been named Live!Ware (not Wire)...toddles http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

It's always nice to see I came up with the same answer as someone else...shows I'm not completely off my rocker...

Did you download the 29.5 Mb zip or the exe,s.
If you downloaded the zip file you need an extraction utility such as win zip. move the zip file to a new folder unzip it and click on setup.exe to install the new drivers and progams.

Be sure to install the new software to the same directory as the old creative software.

IF YOU DON'T HAVE A SOUNDBLASTER LIVE VALUE SOUND CARD DON'T INSTALL THIS SOFTWARE!!!
