can somebody PLEASE help me? i have internet explorer, and msn is my isp. whenever i log on and go to my home page (msn), under the address bar it says, "attempting to connect to yahoo", then i get a toolbar with my yahoo mail alert, bookmarks, etc. but today i downloaded an update for my bonzi buddy, and that toolbar was replaced with bonzi stuff, so i uninstalled it hoping that my yahoo toolbar would come back. but now there is nothing under the address bar. i would be so grateful, if someone could tell me how to get it back. i had a lot of bookmarks, and i'll never find those sites again! i have been sitting here for 7 hours (no kidding) trying everything, but nothing works. H E L P !!!!!!!!!

You could try downloading the Yahoo Companion (http://companion.yahoo.com/) http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif Since you already really have it I would imagine your settings would be restored. As far as your Favorites you could check your Favorites folder (C:\windows\favorites) to see if they are still there.

All this based on the assumption you are using IE 4.0-5.5 and Win 95 or 98.

You could also look in Windows Explorer, and check Program Files, where it was probably installed, and see if the Favorites are there, or if you still have the original installation files reinstalling it over itself might do it.

Also have you tried right clicking the toolbar to see if you have an option to replace the one you lost from there?

I'm just guessing, since I've never used either...

Sorry if this is way off the wall, but did you try dragging the little gizmos at ends of bars? And up and down. I just dragged mine up and stuff disappeared. If the Favorites folder that Pete mentioned is still there, then that might be the problem..something going in changed the display and you need to change it back.

I can't find any definitive info related to this, but the sites that turned up on Google (http://www.google.com) had some interesting info. Many said that Bonzai Buddy is very difficult to get rid of, and a couple referred to it as spyware. I can't find confirmation of the spyware part though. Many also said that it slows the system down considerably.

The only thing I can think of is maybe scanreg can restore a good registry from befor ethis happened, if it hasn't been too long and a few good copies are still there. If you're running win 98:

Use the [F8] key or hold down [Ctrl] while booting, when you get a boot menu choose Command Prompt Only. Type in scanreg_/restore using a space in place of the underscore ( _ ) used here. Press [Enter]. Choose a registry backup from the list that was made before this problem started. Reboot and things should be back to the way they were in the first place.

i am running windows 98, and i tried your suggestion, i didn't get anything but a black screen, with computer info. ram, memory, etc. there wasn't anything about "command prompt only".

HOW did you get it back? You said you kept messing around, but how? This is likely to come up again, and I would like to know how you "fixed" it, please.

well, it was the way paleo pete said, except i first went to start/run, then typed in command.com, and enter. that got me to the MSDos prompt- c:windows, so i then typed in scanreg/restore. the only thing was when i got through, crazy as i am, i didn't know how to get out of MSDos. so there i sat with my black screen, (STARTING TO PANIC). so i grabbed my "dummy book" and it told me i had to type in "exit". i did, and all was well. THANK GOD FOR PC GUIDE, AND MY DUMMY BOOK.

Thanks..thought that was the one that worked. I agree wholeheartedly with the "THANK GOD FOR PC GUIDE, AND MY DUMMY BOOK." My panic came when.. the very first time I ever went in to go online on my husband's puter, I got a message saying it couldn't find the hard drive. Sitting there with no small alarm already..then realized I had NO idea how to turn the puter back off! Embarrassing, but I had to leave puter sitting on that screen until my husband came home and showed me the switch on the back of his puter. And by the way, he still says I "broke" his puter that time. Been afraid to touch it since.
