View Full Version : Disable boot memory test
I am currently working on (yet another) car mp3 project and I want my PC to boot up as fast as possible. But every time I boot, the system does a complete memory check (3 times 64 mb is prettttyyy long when you want a PC booting up in less than 45 seconds).
Anybody know how to disable this? What should I look for in the BIOS?
Thanks,
Tim

Check the BIOS options...you may be able to get to run through the memory check just one time.

Go into BIOS and look for a setting that says Quick Power On Self Test. That's the Award setting, AMI or Phoenix may be named differently. If it's enabled the memory will only test once.
Check my site, I have a link there to the BIOS Survival Guide, and the AMI BIOS Survival Guide, they should have the exact setting listed with an explanation of what it does and what the default setting usually is.
