Hi!, i would like to ask if my system can be overclocked to 3.0ghz?

Intel E3500 @ 2.6GHz
Mobo - ECS G41t-m
Kingston 4gb pc2 6400 (2x2gb)
all coolers are stock so im wondering if it would be possible to OC it to 3.0?

What's your current power supply maximum wattage and manufacturer? If it's the standard PSU that came with your desktop (assuming it was prebuilt and came from Dell, Compaq, etc) then I would advise in not overclocking.

Also a rule of thumb most people go by is that if there isn't a change in 15% or more, then it's almost pointless in overclocking. The main reason for this is that the performance boost isn't noticeably higher and at the same time your degrading the lifespan of the computer by quite a bit (although it really depends on your temps and how often you clean it).

If your really curious to overclock your processor, you could try setting your fsb to 222mghz and leave your multiplier at it's maximum and change the ram speed to get as close to the original speed it was at for stability. That's pretty close to your 3ghz mark you want.

There is no telling how much you can OC your system if at all. OC'ing depends on everything in your system. And even if you have the exact same system as someone else that OC'ed to 5GHz there is no guarantee you will get any OC at all out of your system.

I suggest you start researching and understanding overclocking and the risks before you try it.

my PSU came with my PC, a 500W generic one, im planning on upgrading it to a corsair 750W PSU,
abt the temp, sometimes it gets hot here in the phillipines so can you recommend me a good cooler?

also im also planning on a new case a Antec DF 85, will a new case and a new cooler dramatically lower my Cpu temp?
