cdrom removal

i have just removed my cdrom which i think is not working. there is a directory on my hdd and a couple of lines in the autoexec.bat and config.sys files that were put there during its installation. should i delete these? anything else i should remove?

does anyone have a recommendation for a new cdrom drive?

You should be able to REM out the lines in the autoexec and config or delete them.
If you install the same drive make again you won't need to reinstall the software.
So Before you do anything to the driver files and command lines decide what you will be installing.
