I bought a new motherboard the other day and was preparing to install into an old HP case I had lying around. Form factor fit was perfect. The new processor and RAM were installed and I was ready to put it into the case. Uh oh. The power switch/HDD led/Pow LED header is different than the connectors on the case.
Best description is like this:
CASE---> .......
MoBo---> : : : .
Anyone know how I can fix this on the cheap? Im not good at soldering and was curious about replacing the connectors on the case wiring. Where would I go to find this piece(s)?
Thanks for the help.

sure would be nice if you could show us something......like a picture.....but it might just be that you have a very old case and need a better one................unless, like you said, you can solder one together and make the proper connections.....not really that hard............go to your PC store and purchase some plugs and wire them in on your old setup....or find a discarded case and cannabalize it........

If you are careful you may be able to use a razor to split the proprietary block up into singles, trace the wires and plug them in appropriately. A picture would indeed help us to know if this will work or not.

The power switch/HDD led/Pow LED header is different than the connectors on the case.
As long as you can manage to connect the correct pair of cables to the correct pair of mobo pins for each of ...
power
reset
hdd led
power led
... then you should have no worries.
Power and reset (though some proprietary cases don't have a reset switch) pairs can be connected either way round (they are just switches)
The LED pairs can be connected either way round without doing any harm but will only work if the polarity is correct.
In fact, on one case I own, I purposefully swapped the HD/Power LED leads...the actual 'power' LED was bright blue, the drive was green. I much preferred the blue being off most of the time.
