As of today, OEM manufacturers cannot preload Windows XP on netbooks, which was the last exception MS gave for the venerable OS.

Is there an upgrade path from XP to 7?

I noticed that MS is offerning an upgrade for 3 home PCs with Vista for $150.

No, you would have to upgrade to Vista then 7 or just do a clean install of 7
