Hello everyone,

I need to know how to display a cents symbol. I am talking about eight dollars and fifty-eight cents.

I am running Windows NT4.0. I cannot draw the symbol and make it a little file. I need to be able to import it from Character Map or something of the sort.

Hold down the 'alt' key and type 155 -- like this: ¢

this is part of the 'extended' ascii character set -- but should work with most windows applications ?

Cheers --

If you do not know the ASCII code for some character, there is Charmap.exe in C:\Windows, which can be used. If you do not have it, I would find it on your Windows Install CD and copy it to your hard drive.

I keep a short cut to it handy. It is a bit awkward, but better than nothing. It works as follows.

While in your word processor, invoke Charmap to bring up a Window which displays all the characters available for a font, and has some standard controls.
Scroll in the Font List Box to display the name of the font you are using.
There are select and copy Buttons which allow you to pick one or more characters and then copy them to the clipboard.
Then use Paste to put them in your document.
The above is clumsier than typing ASCII character codes, but useful if you do not know the codes.
