Where I work we have a peer-to-peer wired network. All machines run Win XP Pro. I have added and removed machines frequently and only rarely get an IP address conflict. When I do, I simply reboot the machine and the router assigns it a new IP address.

I'm trying to add a machine to the network but continually get the following error message:

I have rebooted several times with the same result. I can check or uncheck Automatically Detect Settings in the LAN settings, and it makes no difference. I continue to get the same messsage.

Any ideas?

It's the TCP/IP settings of the NIC that is of relevance.

That was simple. Thank you for the quick reply.
