Can any one help me? I have accidently delete/lost files that belong to my web site. Is there any way to recover them? How about going via their ftp? What can I do to fix this major problem?

Cheers,

Did you not back these files up on some removable media!? http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/eek.gif That's a basic lesson you should first learn on a PC! http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/tongue.gif Seriously though, i know Norton makes a data recovery tool, and of several others-but they're all shareware. Someone here may know of a freebie and they'll point you towards it. Meanwhile i would contact whoever was hosting your web site, it's a good chance they'll have a backup of your files on hand, can't hurt to ask. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/wink.gif

Luck! http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Hi !
Download Norton Utilities 2001 preferably using GetRight or Gozila (because it is slightly over 40MB file) from this site: ftp://ftp.download.com/pub/win95/utilities/Norton_Utilities_200_5.0_618.exe Once you have it downloaded, contact me on bora@africaonline.co.zw and I'll send you "patch" to make that shareware fully registered and functional. That program should help you to recover your files.

Try this link http://www.rocketdownload.com/Details/File/ffudelete.htm it is shareware but you can download a demo version. I have used it with good effect, so long as they weren't 'written over'

boraomega: Don't even think about offering anyone a "patch" of that nature on this forum again. If it's shareware, leave it that way. The "patch" you are referring to is commonly known as a "crack" which is used to bypass licensing/registration requirements. That's known as piracy, which is NOT supported or endorsed by the PC Guide Discussion Forums.

The Acceptible Use Policy you agreed to when registering your user name states:

Software piracy is illegal and is not condoned or promoted here. Applying cracks can be considered a form of piracy. If you want to send them to people, do it somewhere else, it will not be tolerated here.

Sylvie did you contact your host and see if they had a backup(s) of your files? Most reputable isp's maintain a backup of the files for their customers web-sites, also just a thought, but do a google search for your site-they cache sites so you may be able to recover your site that way! just open the site in your HTML editor and you should have all your code there. of course if you were hosting any downloadable fiels the links will not work anymore, but you should be able to recover the page(s) themselves. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/wink.gif
