im having a problem with my toshiba sattellite laptop, it has happened a few times now, but generally it gets very hot even though i have it on a flat table and then it starts shutting down and wont re-boot. It had reccommended fixing or repairing it, so i tried that and then i tried re-booting it under the normal way but neither work right. it just wont re-boot. it goes to a certain point then shuts down again. any ideason whats wrong? so i unplugged it last night and again it suggested rebooting under the repair mode but i chose the normal start up and here i am working again, what could it be?

does it come on if you've left it for a while? If it does and seems especially hot then it sounds like a system fan has either died or come losse fro where it should be. Seen a couple of these where the processor fan was actually glued in place over the processor and unsurpsrisinglym the glue melted hence the fan detaches from the processor. Then the laptop will shut down to prevent damage from overheating.

Just an idea but if it proves correct the good news is that it's usually a relatively easy/cheap fix.
